One of our Customers saw that the GNSS LED on a new Nexus 93180YC-FX3 is always on. This behavior can appear due to a bug in different 10.2 NX-OS versions, but Cisco fixed the Bug with NX-OS version 10.2(6).

What is GNSS on the 93180YC-FX3 Nexus Switch?

Global Navigation Satellite System receives GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS L1 signals. The Guide shows how to configure GNSS.

How do we fix the led constantly glowing red?

If you have not configured GNSS, this behavior is a bug that is solved in 10.2(6) and later NX-OS releases. Unfortunately, there is no workaround, so the only way to eliminate the glowing red LED is to upgrade the Switch.

More Information about Bug CSCwc06052

The bug states the following.

The GNSS chassis LED of Nexus 93180YC-FX3 switches running NX-OS software releases 10.2(3), 10.2(4), or 10.2(5) may be either lit red, or rapidly oscillating between green and red even though GPS/GNSS is not connected to the switch and the SyncE feature is not configured on the switch. This issue is cosmetic in nature - only the status of the LED is affected by this issue.
